“It’s a Party in the USA” and a preview

This will be a short post, with the USWNT game versus France on Wednesday. At least it’s a fun one!

So, the USWNT got to the U.K. about two weeks ago and even though they have been training hard, they’ve been having some fun during this time period as well.

When they first arrived in the U.K., they were training in the Northeast area of England. Of course, they had to make a stop at the castle where Harry Potter was filmed. They took their shot at archery and flying on broomsticks. Yes, broomsticks. Check out the video below for all the action.

They also had the chance to see who had the best golf skills.

Some of the USMNT players also stopped by the training to check out the Olympic prep. Carlos Bocanegra, Maurice Edu and Alejandro Bedoya all stopped by because they live and play in Glasgow.

Really, I think the best video posted so far is this awesome rendition of “Party in the USA”.

Enough videos for now, there were also some very good photos that popped up on Twitter. Be sure to check out my Twitter suggestion at the end of the post for follow information for the team!

Tobin Heath, Heather O’Reilly and Alex Morgan had a face mask spa session with the Queen?

Some of the players have even been blogging! Tobin Heath has been blogging for ESPNW and Heather O’Reilly has been blogging for the New York Times.

The closer Wednesday’s match gets, the more focused the team will get and that will reflect in tweets and overall. I don’t know about all you but I’m counting down the minutes until the game at noon on Wednesday! Be sure to watch on NBC Sports and it will also stream on the NBC Live Extras iPad app.

My short preview of the match…

The USWNT plays France on Wednesday. I know I have a short preview in my last post but here it is again. France is the team to beat. I believe that even though Korea DPR and Columbia are good teams, this first group game will decide the group. The game will depend on good midfield control and a good tactical game. Watch for USWNT stars Abby Wambach and Alex Morgan to start up front and a very similar starting line-up to the friendly vs. Canada. Below you can also see who subbed in.

Obviously, there are not nearly as many subs but I would expect 1-2 in midfield and maybe even an appearance by Sydney Leroux in the later minutes of the game.  Different from the line-up below, I doubt Christie Rampone will make it out of this game but I do expect one sub in defense.

I hope you all decide to tune in! Be sure to tune into my Twitter account for some (hopeful) live-tweeting….I do have a daytime job to take care of!

My Twitter suggestion: The entire USWNT team!

  1. Hard to believe that there are girls in those videos that I have no idea who they are. How did that happen?! Lol!
