A Delayed and Short but Thoughtful Final Olympics Post

Sorry for the hiatus, the last week and a half has flown!

How about the gold medal team?

The US Women’s National team celebrates its gold medal!

The gold medal match was well played by both teams but the U.S. was a team on a mission. A mission for redemption. The first half was dominated by the U.S. and Carli Lloyd scored in the 8th minute with a killer header. Then in the 54th minute Lloyd fired in a shot to put the U.S. up 2-0. Japan came back in the 63rd minute to make the score 2-1.

So, what were the keys?

  • Hope Solo – Solo was fantastic. She was key to this win SEVERAL times. She stopped headers and shots that not many goalies could.
  • Carli Lloyd – Lloyd was incredible during this tournament. She must be motivated during the Olympics because she always seems to step up.

The gold medal ceremony was beautiful.

So, what’s next?

The U.S. Women have quite the 10 game victory tour schedule coming up. They start that tour Saturday, September 1st, in Rochester (Abby Wambach’s hometown) and I will be attending! I can’t wait to see them play live again!

So what will I be writing about now?

There is plenty of futball going on: MLS, Premier League, USMNT World Cup Qualifying…

I’ll be posting soon about the epic RECORD setting win over Mexico in Azteca!
